MODTRAN molecular absorption profiles
Extinction = absorption + scattering
The following processes are contributing to the extinction:
- Rayleigh scattering: estimated in molecular atmosphere calibration.
- Aerosols / clouds: estimated via analysing input of ACE devices (FRAM, LIDAR) provided with the DL0 data.
- Ozone - NOx absorption: ozone is the only molecule that has significant absorption bands in the wavelength range of interest. We are supposed to obtain the ozone absorption profiles as a deliverable to DPPS.
Ozone & nitrogen oxides absorption profiles should be delivered to DPPS (redmine issue 52590). If not a backup plan is required. For ozone is under preparation, for NOx there is not clear plan yet. I don't know yet how much we are supposed to wait, so I can't add a due date yet. Th is will be discussed and a due date should be provided early next year.
